Resiliency of Filipinos during Disaster
The Philippines is
one of the most vulnerable countries in the world to disaster and climate
change. For populations subsisting at the poverty line in particular, but also
the nation as a whole, daily lives and wellbeing are routinely challenge. The Philippines
government takes disaster risk seriously and has devoted and locally.
Typhoons and
storms, which make up 58% of all disasters in the country, related flooding 25%
and landslide 6% pose the greatest threats to the country. Storms surpass all
other disaster in terms of number of facilities. People affected and economic
damage.
The Philippines Government,
INGOS and local NGOS are all making attempts to address climate change and
disasters at various levels. However, many resources put aside for this purpose
are re-directed to emergency response when disaster strike, such as typhoon Yolanda
in November 2013, and the flash floods caused by typhoon sendong in Mindanao in
December 2011.
